Generally, hearings on matters for permits and enforcement, as well as mediation conferences of issues before the DEC.

 

Specifically:

 

Permit Hearings that may include: a legislative hearing to receive public comments, an “issues conference” to define points of dispute, or an adjudicatory hearing to litigate disputed issues.

 

Enforcement Hearings where DEC resolves charges of violation of (a) the state's Environmental Conservation Law (ECL),  (b) DEC rules and regulations,  and (c) the terms of any permit, certificate or order issued by DEC.

 

Mediation Conferences where negotiation is pursued to resolve outstanding issues with the assistance of an independent, impartial third-party neutral.
